Phantom Regiment show chopped in 2008 DCI DVD

From the article on dci.org:

The additional editing involves a one minute-14 second segment of the performance of the Phantom Regiment which was seamlessly removed in cooperation with the corps’ creative staff.
“While the initial steps of the licensing process were successful, we were disappointed to learn that a synchronization license ultimately wouldn't be granted for one piece of music in our 'Spartacus' program,” said Rick Valenzuela, executive director of the Phantom Regiment.

Add a media lawyer to your list of staff necessary to be a World Class/Division I/Open class drum and bugle corps in the 21st century.

In all fairness I doubt that composers were getting much in the way of royalties from DCI recordings in the 70s and 80s.
